Searching for a Record

S-Success features a powerful search function that allows you to look for records anywhere within the system. For example, if you want to add a note to a student record, the first thing you should do is look for the student's name using this search function. Keep this in mind as this is designed to make any action you perform within the system easier.

NOTE: Everything on the system, e.g. students, staff members, parents, users, lists, notes, and tasks, among others, is searchable.

To search for a record, enter a search term on the Search bar at the top. You can search for a record anywhere within the system since the Search bar is always displayed at the top.

NOTE: When searching for a student, parent, or staff member record, records related to the student, parent, or staff member are also shown at the bottom of the Search box.

To illustrate, follow the steps below.

1. On the Search bar, enter the first letter of a student's name. Let's say you enter the letters "d." All records with first or last names that start with "d" are listed below the Search bar. Related records (school tasks and notes) are displayed at the bottom.

2. Enter the second letter of the student's name. Again, let's say that you enter the letter "w." This time, only records with "dw" as their first two letters are shown. If the Search box displays more than two results, add the next letter to further limit the result set. Continue entering letters until only a single result is displayed on the Search box.

3. Click the name that appears on the Search bar to open the record.

In the above example, typing "dw" on the Search bar displays the student named "Dwane Johnson" and a School Task related to the student. When you click the student's name, the student's detailed record is displayed.

When you click the related record, the record pops up in a separate window.

Clicking the student's name under the Related To section displays the student record.

NOTE: The system behaves in the same way if your search term is a word that appears in a Note attached to a student record.
